Acupuncture

Balance within the body depends on the interplay between two forms of energy, called yin and yang. When these forces are in harmony, the body is healthy. When either force becomes dominant, disease or pain occurs. Acupuncture restores the balance between yin and yang by tapping into the body’s channels, or meridians, through which these energy forms flow.

Acupuncture helps the body to find the natural balance through self healing and improving function. Highly sterilized, stainless-steel needles as fine as human hair are inserted into specific points that are near the surface of the skin. This alters the core biochemical and physiological conditions that relate to the disease.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is an externally applied Traditional Chinese Medicine treatment using a Chinese herb called Moxa (Artemisia argyi), commonly known as ‘Mugwort’. For external use Moxa is compressed and rolled into a cigar-shaped herbal stick. Moxa sticks are then lit and held over acupuncture points.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, moxibustion is used on people who have a cold or stagnant condition. The burning of moxa is believed to expel cold and warm the meridians, which leads to smoother flow of blood and qi.
